After eight transformative years at the School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata, I am stepping into a new chapter. I arrived in 2018 with the simple goal of earning an MD and becoming a good clinician. Along the way, I discovered research, digital health, clinical innovation, administration and new dimensions of leadership. From the challenges of COVID-19 to building the Adult Immunization Clinic, STM gave me the freedom to explore my abilities and find my own path. This is a reflection on the people, experiences and lessons that shaped me, the unconventional journey that followed and my hope that the institute will continue to flourish in the years ahead.

Delivered at the School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata on 20 June 2026, this West Bengal Day address reflects on the historical significance of 20 June 1947 and the events that shaped the creation of West Bengal. The speech pays tribute to the visionaries, leaders, and ordinary people whose sacrifices contributed to the state's journey, while also acknowledging the human impact of Partition. It highlights Bengal's enduring contributions to education, science, medicine, and nation-building, and calls upon future generations to uphold the values of knowledge, innovation, public service, and social harmony in building a stronger West Bengal.

The blog post details fifteen essential knots, categorized into five knots, five hitches, three bends, and two surgical knots. It explains the purpose and steps to tie each type, emphasizing practical applications such as securing objects, joining ropes, and medical suturing. Key knots include the overhand, reef, and bowline, while important hitches include the clove and rolling hitch. Bends like the sheet bend and fisherman's knot are highlighted for joining ropes. The post underscores the value of mastering basic knots for everyday use and complex applications.

This was my first ever blog post. Hence it has been preserved without any modification for historic reason. Chakravyuha is a troop formation mentioned in the Indian epic of Mahabharata. This article describes the formation and speculates about some potential counter-measures against it.
